A graduate of the Vista Unified School District, Cody Campbell has worked to improve the quality of education that all students receive in the Vista school district and time and time again has stood up to those that would roll back successful progress. Whether Cody was working on one of six district committees he has served on, to serving two terms as a student governing board member, he has always held one thing at the heart of what he does- trying to improve the quality of education for all students.
He continually works for the high quality educational system, health care, and the responsive government concerned for ordinary citizens, that all Californians deserve at both the state and local level. Cody believes that
Vista's quality of life and future economic competitiveness depends upon a world-class system of education, and that greatness of our nation comes from
what so many take for granted- our public schools.
As a two term student trustee, Cody worked closely with the District
teachers, staff, and administration to improve the educational system for all of the
District's students. He proposed new and innovative programs to reduce discipline problems
to help at-risk students stay in school and receive the education they need to
succeed. Cody was an outspoken advocate for all of the District's
students, teachers, staff, and community members and always fought for what
was right.
A significant part of his life has been spent pushing for higher quality educational programs at both the K-12 and post-secondary system. An avid proponent of fiscally responsible increased public funding for schools, he believes that only through hard work and dedication will
Vista Unified schools once again be among the best in the nation.
Cody believes that
Vista needs to build new schools, attract the best teachers and school staff, and use every means available to educate every child and keep their education the highest priority.
Cody currently serves in various community organizations, striving to improve his community. He is honored to serve as the vice-president of the board of directors for the North Coastal Prevention Coalition and as chairperson of the Vista school district's Youth Court Review
Committee. As a nationally recognized coalition, the North Coastal Prevention Coalition
focuses on environmental drug use prevention efforts. It is the leading regional resource for comprehensive alcohol, tobacco, and
other drug prevention and intervention. Cody has also served on six VUSD committees
working to reduce school overcrowding, improve educational standards, and
maintain a fiscally responsible school district.
Cody seeks a position on the VUSD board because he believes that public schools can give limitless possibilities and inspire students to do great things. He believes that together we can give greater opportunities to the students that attend Vista schools and empower them to succeed. He will stand up for
fairness, broadened opportunity, and accountability- the values that are the foundations of our public school system. Cody will continue to propose new and innovative programs to insure that every
child receives the opportunities they deserve.
